What is the Timothy Project? As the apostle Paul approached the end of his ministry and his life, he gave some final instruction to his young pupil, Timothy.
Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction…keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
In presenting Timothy with this charge, Paul was handing off a torch, placing a mantle of authority and responsibility around Timothy’s shoulders, to continue on in the work that God had called Paul and Timothy to do. With a similar purpose and intent, the Timothy Project is, for CrossTraining, a way of encouraging and supporting the work of that person or organization who is using the sport of football (soccer) as a platform and instrument to speak into the lives of people and communities everywhere. Whether it is a need for financial support for a short-term trip, a request for soccer equipment, or simply helping promote awareness within the circles of influence where CrossTraining exists – the Timothy Project is our way of giving back and discovering new ways that God is using the sport to bridge any barriers or obstacles to hearing the Good News.
Each year, CrossTraining selects missional individuals or organizations to encourage, equip, and support in using the sport of soccer to have an impact in their world or community.
