Switchbacks Face Rapids in US Open Cup

Round-4-USOC-2016-e1464845790744-300x111For the second year in a row, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks will face the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park to see who will advance to the next round of the U.S. Open Cup, America’s oldest on-going soccer tournament. The Switchbacks won their 3rd round match up against Arizona United SC on June 1. For CrossTraining, the game sees two teams face each other that have CrossTraining chaplains serving both organizations.

When asked who would win the game, Rapids Lead Chaplain, Rev. Brad Kenney commented,

Of course, the Rapids. We are better. But seriously, I think a lot of times as a chaplain when I struggle with who to root for – the Switchbacks have former Rapids players and coaches and I want to see them each do well and succeed, but I am the chaplain for the Rapids – so I will be cheering our team on to victory. I will say this, though, we chaplains enjoy bragging rights as much as the next person – and if we lose to the Switchbacks we might never live it down with Kurt (Trempert).
