CrossTraining is pleased to announce that Rev. Cesar Duran will be joining CrossTraining. Rev. Duran will be working along with the team that is serving the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer (MLS). As an Associate Chaplain, Rev. Duran will report to the Lead Chaplain, Rev. Brad Kenney. His primary duties will be to serve the Spanish-speaking players, staff, and their families associated with the Rapids organization.
Rev. Duran was born in Mexico and is currently serving the United Methodist Church in liaising with the Hispanic/Latino Ministries within the Rocky Mountain Conference. His role with the UMC is considered as a missionary and he supports the RMC by helping network and develop pastors and ministers with the conference to have vibrant ministries and work within the church.
Rapids Lead Chaplain, Rev. Kenney commented on Rev. Duran joining the CrossTraining team,
I am excited to see Cesar join our team in serving the Rapids organization. At times a particular team or organization may have a different assortment of players and staff from other countries, speaking different languages and it is part of our vision to provide care and support for as many as we can. It can be difficult to come to the U.S. and be successful when you are miles away from the support structures of faith and family that a player or coach has grown accustom to. Rev. Duran will help us with an integral piece of our ministry.
You can learn more about the rest of the CrossTraining team which currently serves two teams (one in MLS and one in the United Soccer League – USL) and has additional staff to help support the chaplains and counselors working in professional soccer. CrossTraining relies upon the support of individual donors to work alongside the organizations it serves.
