CrossTraining is pleased to announce the addition of a new chaplain to begin helping the Colorado Springs Switchbacks of the USL-Pro. Last week, CrossTraining Executive Director, Brad Kenney met with the Switchbacks Director of Team Operations and Kurt Trempert, who has been in a dialogue with CrossTraining about joining the ministry of CrossTraining and serving the Switchbacks.
Trempert pastors a local church in the Colorado Springs area, Harvest Downtown, where he has served for over 15 years. Born and raised in Ecuador, Trempert is bilingual and completed a Master’s of Ministry from Tozer Seminary. Director Kenney commented on Trempert’s joining CrossTraining and beginning the work with the Switchbacks as Lead Chaplain for the Switchbacks,
For me, Kurt is the ideal candidate to come alongside of a club and organization like the Switchbacks. He has been in the (Colorado) Springs area for a number of years, speaks Spanish, knows the game of soccer, has served as pastor in a culturally diverse area and, yet, understands the care needs necessary in a chaplaincy context.
Trempert will serve for the remainder of the 2015 season before a final assessment will be done to determine if he is best suited to the role. For Director Kenney, the next few months will be helpful in determining the viability of Trempert as chaplain,
The next few months give us, and the Switchbacks, as well as Kurt and his family the ability to determine whether the role and relationship are working well together.
Please lift CrossTraining, Trempert, and the Switchbacks organization up in your prayers.
