The 2015 Baylor Symposium on Faith and Culture, The Spirit of Sports begins today. The conference agenda and participants are examining the significance of sport in modern-day culture and looking at the tension between what sports both supports and sacrifices in terms of developing “human excellence” as well as how we relate to both God and others.
Rev. Brad Kenney, Lead Chaplain for the Colorado Rapids and Founder/Executive Director of CrossTraining Ministries, is presenting a shared colloquial session on Saturday morning. The conference, being held at Baylor University in Waco, Texas features many speakers from the emerging academic field of sport and faith, as well as several industry professionals.
Rev. Kenney shared,
It is tremendously exciting to be able to share at this conference. The approach to sport is wide and varied and I hope that my session will make a contribution to the large consideration of how those working especially in chaplaincy roles might approach sport from a pastoral perspective.
Rev. Kenney plans to share about the need for holistic care ministry approaches in the field of sports chaplaincy. He is scheduled to present Saturday morning at a 10:30 am session. You can view the final schedule of events.
Please pray that the session goes well and that I can clearly communicate what has been placed on my heart through years of experience.
