Last week, CrossTraining chaplains from Colorado and Charlotte were in Los Angeles, CA for the NSCAA Convention, Major League Soccer Draft, and annual gathering of soccer chaplains and soccer ministry people.
The annual meetings which are hosted by Athletes in Action, featured a day-filled with meetings and discussion about soccer ministry as well as an inspirational talk by Eric Volz. The assembly included chaplains and sports ministry personnel serving in Major League Soccer, the NASL (North American Soccer League), USL (United Soccer League), and NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League).
The meetings feature time to network and fellowship with other chaplains and sports ministry folks as well as being able to spend time with people from across the soccer community in North America.
Rev. Brad Kenney, Executive Director of CrossTraining and Lead Chaplain for the Colorado Rapids spoke to the value of attending this annual event,
While the weather was a bit gloomy for Southern Cal, this time is always an important one as we begin a ministry year. Whether we are meeting a draft pick, catching up with someone who has moved to a different team, or meeting our colleagues from around the league — the annual meetings are a great way to glean ideas, capture a fresh wind and vision for the year ahead and much more.
